The final result also highlights a very important part of the group’s history, that of its successive fragmentation, without detracting from the beauty of the group as a whole.
This method of statue assembly and presentation has recently been adopted by some of the world’s leading museums,but this is the first time it has been done in Egypt.

The project team cleaned,conserved and reassembled the statue between September 1998,and June 1999.

The project was directed by Egyptologist Dr. Hourig Sourouzian under the supervision of the curators of the New  Kingdom Department : Adel Mahmoud, Ibrahim Abdel Gawad and Soha Mahmoud.
